Skills, Career and Innovation Expo

The Montgomery Homes Newcastle Show is proud to announce the integration of a dynamic Skills, Career, and Innovation Expo within the iconic Hall of Industries. This unique expo is set to redefine the show experience by spotlighting the diverse talents, career opportunities, and cutting-edge innovations that shape our community. Attendees can immerse themselves in a showcase of essential skills for the workforce of tomorrow through hands-on demonstrations and interactive exhibits.
Australian Rail Track Corporation manages more than 8,500 route kilometres of track in New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Victoria and Western Australia. ARTC also manages the Hunter Valley coal rail network. ARTC, Broadmeadow, manages and maintains the track in the Hunter Region, from Port Waratah to Maitland and Muswellbrook and into the Central North West of NSW. ARTC will be displaying careers, pathways and community safety messages whilst displaying a visual live feed of the train network control.
Aruma, a registered NDIS provider situated at Warabrook, supports employment opportunities in a number of business roles, including commercial laundry, woodwork, metalwork, facilities management, medical parts and supplies and Aruma’s School Leaver Employment Support (SLES). Aruma will be bringing their Metal & ID Wire tagging machine to the Newcastle Show, which featured recently in the Newcastle Herald.

Thinking about a career in Health? Hunter New England Local Health District provides public health services to the Hunter New England and lower Mid North Coast regions of NSW, employing a range of clinical and non-clinical frontline and non-frontline staff to serve our local communities. Hunter New England Health will be showcasing the range of careers available and providing education on the pathways and current job opportunities throughout the Hunter and New England Districts. Our district covers 25 local government areas, 27 hospitals, as well as community and outpatient centres. When you work with Hunter New England Health you can expect interesting work surrounded by spectacular locations.
Newcastle Master Builders Apprentices is a Group Training Organisation (GTO) that supply Apprentices and Trainees to local builders in the Building and Construction Industry. All Apprentices are employed directly by MBA and hired out to a Host Employer meaning MBA look after all administration and provide them with any support and guidance to complete qualifications. Throughout their Apprenticeship MBA covers qualification costs and TAFE textbooks, safety equipment (steel cap boots, vest, hard hat, gloves, and a basic tool kit & tool box.etc) Apprenticeships includeMBA offers trade Apprenticeships/Traineeships such as: carpentry, plumbing, tiling, electrical, tiling and other trades, business admin, painting and decorating. MBA Staff will be on hand to answer any of your questions on Friday
As one of the leading providers of education and training in Australia, TAFE NSW has industry qualified and experienced teachers bringing up-to-date, real-world skills directly to the classroom.
With a history spanning over 100 years, Infrabuild is Australia’s largest processor and distributor of steel long products, including wire. We produce wire rope for drag lines used in open cut mines and rural industries as well as smaller items including nails. Infrabuild manufactures and recycles steel and have mills located in Newcastle & Geelong. Infrabuild is part of the GFG Group, which includes local businesses: Infrabuild Steel Centre, Mayfield, Infrabuild Recycling, Hexham, ARC, Wallsend, Matthews Metal Management, East Maitland. Infrabuild staff will be on hand to answer your questions about the many employment opportunities with their group!
Tomago Aluminium is Australia’s largest aluminium smelter and has been operating 24 hours a day since 1983. Tomago employs 1000+ staff (full time equivalent) as well as 200 contractors, Tomago Aluminium will feature their Apprenticeship Campaign video, showcasing the opportunities, support and benefits of working with Tomago Aluminium. Several products that the Smelter produces will be on display.
NSW Mining Council is a representative body for the mining industry and home to responsible mining operations producing high-quality coal, copper, gold and many other commodities for local and global markets. Thermal coal provides a stable and affordable energy supply to keep NSW businesses thriving each day. The Upper-Hunter Mining Dialogue is a forum for community,industry, government, business and interest groups to come together to discuss and develop effective responses to community concerns about the impacts of mining. The industry provides well-paid and secure employment, education and training to school leavers, apprentices and graduates. Mining in NSW supports over 30,000 full-time equivalent jobs.  Almost 7,000 local businesses derive at least part of their income from mining each year.
Reach for Training offers Australian Vocational Education and Training (VET) by providing nationally recognised qualifications. Reach offers face to face classes, locally, short courses and co-ordinate traineeships and apprenticeships in the region. Reach can also provide a direction to further studies, including higher education degrees. By combining hands-on practical experience and strong theoretical knowledge, our learners are supported to meet their goals. Courses are designed in partnership with industry, and include:Community Services, Childcare, Hair & Beauty, Hospitality & RSA courses, Business & Retail and Short courses. Nationally recognised courses, flexible learning, student support, work placements and subsidised courses to those eligible. Reach has offices in Newcastle. Central Coast & the Hunter and will be providing information regarding their courses.
RDA connect government, industry and the community to support the development of their region. The ME Program is funded by Australia’s Department of Defence to deliver industry-led worforce development activities. II connects Hunter Industry with its future workforce, increases students’ awareness of defence industry careers and the pathways available to them. It also upskills students in preparation for the STEM jobs of the future. RDA Hunter will be engaging with students and show patrons with Interactive simulator activities.
The NSW Department of Education is committed to employing the best and brightest teachers who can teach and make a difference in NSW public schools.
Transport for NSW are a workforce of over 25,000 people working across a diverse range of areas. Transport for NSW, deliver infrastructure on a massive scale, and committed to innovation, technology and meeting the needs of our customers across all modes of transport. During the three day show, Transport for NSW,will conduct “Safer Speeds” engagement with two crash cars that have been crashed in our crash lab. The cars have been crashed at different speed and show the impact of speeding.
Training Services NSW works to improve training outcomes for the people of NSW. We support apprenticeships and traineeships, Smart and Skilled, and adult and community education. We're part of NSW Department of Education.
